From the offset the trip took a bit of a hitting when AA "splendidly" change our departure flight time from 12 in the afternoon to 6 in the morning. This meant we need to be at the airport around 5am at least. I really dislike such an early flight but what to do ? To compound to the issue of early flight, I had a stomach ache just 25 minutes before boarding time. Luckily manage to board the plane with 2 minutes into the final call. The flight itself was pretty smooth, so nothing to complaint there.
Arrived at the airport little over 2 hours later and took the taxi to town. Still the standard RM 30 charge applies. This would be my second time here and the first time for dear. It is because of this knowledge that we decided to try a trip without an itinerary. Whether it was a fantastic trip or not, only the last post shall we reveal it.

Looking jaded due to the early flight. We had a quick breakfast at Oldtown Kopitiam which was a few street away from the hotel. It is because we arrived early that we couldn't check in yet. So we got around 4 hours to burn before able to check in. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful.

So fast the neon already spoilt.

Went to shop at Suria Sabah afterwards. Didn't really do much on the first day because we both had a massive headache from the early flight. She bought some t-shirts with a long pants. Fairly good price.

Wisma Sabah is just opposite Suria Sabah and that where all the tour agents resides. In fact most of them are offering pretty much the same tour and almost the same price. We reckon that no matter who you choose, they will still group you together under the same tour guide. It is much easier that way. No tour operator would want to bring only 2 person on a 22 person tour rite ? For first timer I suggest you try one of these daily tour because it is quite the experience but because of the steep pricing, one time is more than enough.

Stomach still not so good even 6 hours after arrival.

That's Suria Sabah. On my first trip here many months ago, it was still under construction. Now it is almost ready. A lot of shop still not yet open. Worth the visit. In my opinion much better than 1Borneo. We noticed on our day 4 trip to 1Borneo, a lot of shop are closed there, possibly they moved to Suria instead. 1Borneo is rather far from the city. Oh ... during our visit to 1Borneo that time, there were a reported that a man committed suicide at an apartment nearby. Scary stuff.

We went for a brief walk at the waterfront. And went to buy 2 pair of slippers at RM 10 but the slipper is pretty uncomfortable due to its poor material construction. I'd still wear it on the second day whereby we went to the island. It was much easier to wear than the sport shoes I wore for the trip.

Eden54, a splendid place to stay in. Very comfy and affordable. A mile better than the previous Hotel that I stayed in last time, Wah May Hotel. Everything is clean and the service is top notch. The hotel location is located very near to Jesselton Point and Gaya Street. Main advantage is, a 3 minute walk to Jesselton Point and a 2 minute walk to the Gaya Street Market on Sunday. And there is a lot of bank nearby too, which adds to the convenience.

So breakfast at Oldtown, Lunch at Suria at the Chicken Rice Shop and Maggi Hotcup for dinner. My stomach was still not feeling well right until dinner time so we opted for a maggi hotcup instead of a heavy dinner outside. Just a precaution.
