First brush with a camera is my definitely my dad's SLR, the Pentax Spotmatic. Interesting enough, I actually dislike holding that chunk of metal when I was still in my adolescence year. I even tried to sabotage that lens by grinding a metal pliers on the lens barrel. The trouble with under develop brain perhaps.

Second camera I ever knew, was the Canon Powershot S40. Ancient by today's standard but oddly enough I didn't feel the love photography even so back then. It wasn't until I saw what my friend could do with that piece of electronic wonder. Until today, if people ever ask why I got into photography, my mmu old pal always come to mind first. A few of his photo came into mind, long shutter exposure of him playing with firework just by making a round full of movement (still brilliant even today) and a somewhat unflattering photo of 2 elephant trying to "do it" in a zoo.

Interestingly enough, the third camera that I ever felt so fond of was the Nikon D100. I'm actually a Nikon fanboy hater. :) Not to be mistaken with a fanboy. Read between the lines, ya. My colleague brought along his D100 to a company's trip to Damai beach gazillion of years ago. It was the first time I ever saw a monopod. I thought it was broken tripod. :) silly silly me.

I had this silly dream of being a reporter because of the fact that I could use expensive camera and lens on daily basis job. Win win isn't it ? Probably the boring part is the report documentation. :) It was during this time, each picture in newspaper, the only thing I notice wasn't the news itself, but all the reporters surrounding it. The EF 17-40mm with a red ring was by far the most popular choice among journalist back then. Not to mention the Canon EOS 20D and the legendary 30D. Back in those days, my paycheck couldn't allow me to afford the 30D or 350D or even the lens to pair it with. I'd eventually settle on a Powershot S3 IS. Until today, I still miss that camera even though it's actually just nearby. hehe.
