The Story Between You and MeOld Town White Coffee @ Pullman

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Can't remember when we went here already, I'm not very good with what day is it, because I'm quite an absent minded person. I even thought the place is call Ipoh Town instead of Old Town. Since we just had our dinner about an hour before that, we're after something a little on the light side. The interior design here is quite nice. I was hoping someday I could do the same design for the house, when I got the dough though. Overall we enjoyed dining here, although I particularly valued more on the time we spend on our conversation rather than the dining experience.

The number of Aperture blade on your lens have no effect on the Bokeh, IF you shoot it wide open. If your lens is rated F1.8, then F1.8 is wide open. You can even customize the bokeh if you place a piece of paper with the desired shape cut out in front of the lens. Probably will find time to test that out when I'm free (I think I've tried this before but didn't get the kind of result i was looking for back then).

Spirulina Tea Something Something, forgot what is it called. Forgot how much also. Taste ok aje, if you really want wholesome Spirulina. There can only be Elken Spirulina.

Wheat Grass Juice. Forgot how much also. Joanna complaint that it was very sweet. I didn't know sugar was on sale ?

Breakfast food as a second round dinner ? We were looking for something light. Omega Toast was it ? Nice taste but the half boil egg just doesn't blend well with the bread, structure wise. Would you eat a Sarawak Kek Lapis that breaks into a million pieces the moment u pick it up ? Afraid not. On a side note, the egg reminds me of a superb dish which I used to always eat back when I was still studying at Cyberjaya. 月光河 (Moon Light River) was the name of that dish and Restoran 45, Dengkil (Heard the place is already gone. Damn I miss that Gold Hair guy.) was the venue. It is only until recently, I heard from Ah Lun (Aaron's Programming God, that's what he call him) there is a stall selling that dish at Expert, RH Plaza. Unfortunately, the 3 time i was there, the stall doesn't seem open (Got a confirmation from Eric that the stall usually open at 7.30pm onwards).

You'd probably thinking, who eats breakfast food for dinner ? We do. If your not down with that, I got two words for you... mai aneh.

The Story Between You and MeManual Focusing

Monday, August 30, 2010

Set the lens at the widest aperture, turn on the MF. Focus to the closest distance and shoot. You should get a nice heap of out of focus bokeh. Sharpness isn't everything, blur can be nice too. especially when dealing with night lights.

The Story Between You and MeWater Lily + Cheapskate Macro

Been wanting to do macro for quite some time, but weather, wind is always an issue. A bright sunny day on Sunday sets the tone for a quickie macro. A cheapskate macro none the less.

The Story Between You and MeUs @ Kampung Telaga Air

Not exactly part 3 but it was a pretty hot day so an umbrella is a must. Had a rough week, we're spoke on a lot of things. Mainly on the notion that people trying to out best one another which I truly believe as nonsense. When I heard people trying to buy a better camera just because they want to compare, I felt that I'm talking to an ignorant fool. Camera is just another tool, how you portray your photos has nothing to do with the camera. A rule of thumb, creativity 70% (composition wise), skill to handle 20% and lastly the camera itself only contribute a measly 10%. It was a hot topic for the both of us that day, I'm generally disappointed that there are people out there still think a better camera lead to a better picture, in terms of large print and image quality maybe but a photo that is captured lifeless and devoid of purpose by a 1D Mark IV remains uninspiring irregardless of the how much the price tag of your camera. One thing is for sure, compare culture sucks.

Now normal program resumes, Kampung Telaga Air. :)

We had a splendid time here, nice scenery and smelly fishes. I always enjoyed the time that we spent together. It is this kind of time that I wish time would just stood still. But we can't be greedy can't we ? Take it as the day goes by. I'm sure we can make it in the end.

The Story Between You and MeKampung Telaga Air [2]

If your interested, Kampung Telaga Air also provide a homestay program for those interested to check out how a boat is made, fishing trips and yes, even diving. RM 180 per head for 3 days 2 night is as cheap as it gets, transportation and admin fees not included. The homestay program may be catered for tourist, I think even us locals would find it interesting none the less. If you want to know more, browse here.

Part 3 .. a bit later.. :)

The Story Between You and MeKampung Telaga Air [1]

Kampung Telaga Air is a fishing village located around 35 km from Kuching. "Kampung" means village, "Telaga" means a well, and finally "Air" means water. It was a sunny weekend, me and Joanna decided to venture a little and get away from the busy city life. I myself have been wanting to know more about this place ever since my colleague went there with her husband not so long ago. The road leading to the village is quite picturesque and breathtaking at the same time.

How to get there:
If you know how to go to Matang Family Park/Kubah National Park, then your not far off from the village. When you reach the fork, instead of turning left to Matang Family Park/Kubah National Park, go straight. You will pass by a groceries shop call Hong Chen, go further straight until u reach a traffic light. Proceed to go straight and follow the road until you see a signboard that says Telaga Air. Turn right and go straight until the end.

Part 2 coming up. :)

EOS 400D + Tokina 11-16mm + Canon EFS 55-250mm IS

Didn't really enjoyed Shenzhen that much. Prefer Macau anytime, and I'm not even a gambler. ^_^

The Tokina 11-16mm is as tack sharp as prime lens!
