The Story Between You and MeMacau ~ Black | White

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Just back from a trip to Macau recently, I fell in love with the city instantly. Beautiful European style architecture, nice and cool weather during the month of January when I was there. Never mind the Casino, the city itself has a lot more to offer for tourist looking for diversity. Macau, truly Asia.

The Story Between You and MeMacau – Day 6

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Finally the last day, made a call to the receptionist to ask whether the room comes with breakfast or not. Turns out we have to fork out 25 MOP for buffet style breakfast which is still cheaper than eating outside. Me and Jason went for breakfast with Ah Kai had his filling from yesterday night’s curry fried rice vegetarian that he tapao. The breakfast is very normal which suit me because I’ve been craving for some food that I’ve become accustomed to before coming here. I had some sausages (very oily), dim sum, and some more dim sum, a loaf of bread, scrambled eggs and boil egg. Very satisfied with the hotel cafeteria too. After getting ready, we brought all our luggage and kept it with the hotel luggage keeper. We took the free shuttle bus to City of Dreams and Venetian. Me and Ah Kai went to the Venetian but opted out from the City of Dreams due to joint pains. Venetian is very nice place to visit but the shopping will put you off unless your loaded. We took the free shuttle back to our hotel and prepared to check out. Took a cab to the airport and get ready to fly home. My bible cause me to be stop at the immigration once again for some unknown reason. Even the luggage scanner also gone haywire. Macau is a very romantic place to be during these time of the year,  I look forward to bring my dear with me back here next year.

The Story Between You and MeMacau – Day 5

Woke up the next day feeling a bit better but still in a world of pain on the leg. Jason went to tapao some breakfast from downstairs due to his “the flash” like walking speed. Ah Kai was busy sleeping or playing his web based rpg game already I can’t really recall. Jason bought Dim Sum for breakfast at 6 RMB for 16 pieces. Bloody cheap and nice to eat to boot. Since our luggage have grown slightly due to the souvenir being brought back, we took a cab from our hotel to the Shekou Ferry Terminal. The cab driver came from the northern part of China which explain his really difficult to understand mandarin. After the usual immigration check point, we boarded the ferry. The ferry ride to Macau is about 1 hour and 20 minute. I never had seasick before but I think I had a terrible headache after the ride. When we reach the Macau Ferry Terminal, there seem to be no bus going to our direction so we took another cab to the hotel. The cab driver drive like a mad man … and really have no disregard for road safety whatsoever. I almost vomit during this episode. Once we reach the hotel and check in. Afterward we went for a short walk to Taipa Village. We bought a pork burger along the way for 14 MOP each. Very nice to eat. After walking around for some site seeing, We took a bus back to Ponte 16 and back to the place of our first hotel. Reason of going back there is for vegetarian and also our food. Taipa eatery are expensive because it’s more towards tourist rate. After eating we walk to the Grand Lisboa Casino and watch a rope dancing by a European performer on the Grand Lisboa show stage. We took a taxi back to the hotel after we found out we couldn’t board the free shuttle bus from Grand Lisboa because we need a ticket from the casino. We retired to our beds shortly afterwards.
