The Story Between You and MeTua Pek Kong's Birthday

Friday, February 27, 2009

Heard about this event from hui jan, I'm surprised there wasn't any mention of this in the newspaper. Well maybe english newspaper dun have .. but others might. This would mark the very first outing that I bring the camera bag with me, I can say it's better than my nike bag pack. Arrived at HSBC car park at 6.50pm, initially I thought of walking to the temple but after careful consideration, having the china town gateway as background might help some of the photos asthetically. I brought along 3 lens, the 55-250, 11-16 and nifty fifty along with the external flash (which i ended up didn't use). They sort of started pretty late ... so basically i was standing there with the rest like suku kia for almost 1 hour.

Basically the 55-250 is good for candid moments but it's pretty useless (slow in focusing) in low light condition. ^_^

Everyone move at a fast pace ... even ISO 1600 also blur .. F2.8 also mo ngan tai ...

Very funny acts, got the crowd going ... especially the kids.

These guys move a lot ... luckily got rest period to nail the shot.

There were too many lion dance in the procession, but some did really well especialy if they got use a spot light to beam at thier teammate, it basically makes the photographer's job much easier.

Harsh light produces darken shadow which is nice.

I use the 11-16 80% of the time, the wide angle does capture a lot into the frame, but at 2.8 it's still slow.

That's when i switch to nifty fifty. Prime is always that tad sharper.

There were about 4 dragon dances but unfortunately it's all blurred. So only include this moniker version nia.

The guy is in a trance ... no pain. While they need divine intervention, I only need my Jack Daniels to get into trance. haha.

I think this is Tua Pek Kong, the moment it show up, everyone started praying sans me. hehe

See what i mean ?

Immediately after that, everything is burnt.

Cheers ^_^

The Story Between You and MeWiner Traveler 1306 Camera Bag Review

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Finally i got my own traveler camera bag which i find it pretty affordable compared to those juggernaut brands like lowerpro, crumpler or etc. Being a budget conscious photographer, wise money decision making have always been the first thing i consider before plunging the dough. So I decided to look upon myself to find the one bag that would fit my gear and still go easy on the wallet and I'm glad it came to this.

The downside of buying stuff from the internet is that we can't physically inspect the stock but that's not an issue considering the online seller does have a good return policy. I wasn't really worried though considering the seller which i purcharsed this bag from maintained a perfect feedback from his/her previous customers. Ok ... this isn't a online buying guide. Let's move on to the bag itself. The main difference between a camera bag and your regular slingbag is pretty much on the padding itself plus it has compartments that allows storage of the camera, lenses, flash or etc without it knocking on each others while we're on the move.

The compartments above is latched on by simple yet effective velcro application. This means the compartment can be customised to the way we see fit. Or actually to however you gear configuration would be. Do take note that this bag is basically for a dual lens gear .. however i'd manage to squeeze a 400D mounted with a Tokina 11-16mm, 50mm 1.8, 55-250mm IS and an external flash into it without much problem.

Besides those mention above, I'd still could fit in my remote shutter release cable, extra memory card (if I have one), extra battery (if I have one) or even name card  (If I have one). Unfortunately I couldn't squeeze in the Lambency Flash Diffuser aka UFO or Maggi Mee Cup. It's my favourite piece of diffuser. hehe.

Ok ... the internet is monkey piss slow now .. how to write blog like that ?? Geramnya. The bag does have a front compartment which you can put your filters like UV, CPL and yada yada yada.

The front cover actually contained a small compartment which I believe is for storing plastic bag. Why plastic bag ? Well to protect the bag and your camera if there is a sudden rain of course. Those branded bag does give an option of a build in bag wrapper also for the same purpose.

Nice thick and padded shoulder strap so you don't have a bikini line on your shoulder after a long day of street shooting or something in between. I like this bag a lot.

Ok now .. the bag cost about RM 120 which is a free shipped throughout Malaysia. You can get it from this online seller below.
